The Betting Perspective - CGY @ SSK

Calgary @ Saskatchewan (-4): TOTAL 44.5

Saturday's tilt of the CFL's Thanksgiving Weekend card is the second half of a home-and-home, as the Saskatchewan Roughriders look for revenge against the Calgary Stampeders in Regina.

Last week, the Stamps defeated the Riders at McMahon Stadium 23-17, holding off a late charge from visitors.

The Stamps come into town, riding high after a much needed win but potentially a shaky quarterback situation as well. Bo Levi Mitchell is a future Hall of Famer, but the 2021 version of the Eastern Washington product has left a lot to be desired, Mitchell has thrown just four touchdowns in five starts and has an eye-opening eight interceptions this season. All that. on top of a shoulder injury that just won't go away and forced Mitchell from the fourth quarter of the Week 9 contest versus the Riders. Backup quarterback Jake Maier has shown some promise this season and may potentially be closer to getting the reigns full-time as we head into the home-stretch of the schedule. As for the defense, Calgary has allowed the second most passing yards against in the CFL despite shutting down Cody Fajardo just last week.

As for the Riders, the offensive inconsistencies that have plagued Craig Dickenson's club this season appear not to be going away. Here we are, eight games into Saskatchewan's season and Cody Fajardo has thrown more interceptions than touchdown passes. Fajardo's performances this year are even worse against West opponents, the Riders' quarterback has thrown just three touchdowns against an awful seven interceptions in five divisional games. On the other side of the ball, the Riders have been able to get to the opposing passer, that group leads the league in sacks with 25 through eight games.

The betting line for this game hasn't budged a ton, despite some public money coming in on the home side. Historically, the Riders are suffering from an awful 3-12 against the spread streak against the Stampeders but are an impressive 7-1-1 ATS run against teams with a losing record.

If you believe the trend, Riders beat up on bad teams. And the Stamps aren't great, now they're on the road. And we only have to lay four points.

Let's roll green.
