The Betting Perspective - EDM @ WPG
Edmonton @ Winnipeg (-10): TOTAL 47.5
The Edmonton Elks travel to Winnipeg to face the Blue Bombers Friday night.
Currently, the Elks are dead last in the CFL after a bad loss to the Ottawa Redblacks just a week ago. New head coach Jaime Elizondo has struggled in his first year in charge, the lead offensive mind has only been able to get his group over 30 points just one time in seven games. Quarterback Trevor Harris will return after a couple weeks out with injury, Harris has only thrown six touchdowns this season and four of those came in a victory over the Stampeders in Week 5. As for Edmonton's defense. the Elks were ripped apart by first time starting quarterback Caleb Evans last week, Evans chucked three touchdown passes in a 34-24 Redblacks victory. Despite giving up 34 points to Ottawa, Edmonton maintains the best pass defense in the CFL but it might be a moot statistic heading into a matchup against a diverse Winnipeg attack.
The Bombers are clearly the best team in the CFL and it seems more and more every week that we'll see Winnipeg in Hamilton for the Grey Cup. Quarterback Zach Collaros might have the inside track to the Most Outstanding Player Award, if the Bombers star defensive trio of Jackson Jeffcoat, Willie Jefferson and Adam Bighill continue to cancel one-another out for the honors. Collaros threw for 417 yards along with a pair of touchdowns last week versus BC, those stats were a huge jump from anything we've seen this season from Winnipeg. The Bombers' defense continue to dominate the opposition, last week against the Lions, that group put six sacks while keeping Michael Reilly out of the endzone.
As we continue to move later in the season, bigger spreads are expected in Winnipeg games, especially at Investors Group Field. The number opened in some spots at -12.5, then was bet down, you should be able to find the spread at 10 or slightly lower.
Let's use the public movement against itself and ride the best team in the league, versus a club in turmoil. Edmonton gave up four sacks against Ottawa and the Bombers are a different beast, Trevor Harris might be in for a long day.
Pick: Winnipeg -10
