The Betting Perspective - HAM @ MTL

Hamilton @ Montreal (pk): TOTAL 47.5

The fourth week of the Canadian Football League season begins Friday night when the Hamilton Tiger-Cats travel to Montreal to battle the Alouettes in the first East vs East game of the 2021 season.

The Ticats roll into Montreal needing a win in the worst way, Hamilton sits at 0-2 on the season and are the only winless team left in the CFL. Hamilton have only scored 14 points through two weeks, and they've shown no signs of improving their struggling offense. Wideouts Bralon Addison and DeVier Posey remain out with injury, the question of who starts at quarterback remains and the offensive line have looked a lot like their 2019 Grey Cup performance. The Ticats have given up 7 sacks in two games and it seems Jeremiah Masoli is trying to avoid pressure on every drop back. On the other side of the ball, Hamilton's defense has given up a league-worst 158 yards per game on the ground and it has Montreal's potent run game salivating.

As for the Alouettes, they're coming off a disappointing loss against the Stampeders and rookie quarterback Jake Maier last week. Montreal racked up over 400 yards in the defeat but still struggled to put points on the board. The Als sit at 1-1 on the season and will be amped to finally play in front of their home fans. Montreal leads the CFL in rushing yards per game and Vernon Adams Jr. possesses the ability to cause opposing defenses headaches with his ability to run. Last week, the Ticats gave up 66 rushing yards to Riders quarterback Cody Fajardo on just 7 carries, Vernon Adams Jr might be able to replicate that production on Friday.

Looking at the betting line for this matchup, try to get in early if you’re rolling with the home Alouettes. Different books are posting different favorites in the game, the Ticats are -2 in some spots, but it seems to be a hook for Alouettes money. Hamilton’s offensive line is a massive issue and until personnel changes are made by the front office, their struggles should continue.

Roll with Montreal in a straight up situation.
