The Betting Perspective - OTT @ MTL

Ottawa @ Montreal (-8): TOTAL 48

The Ottawa Redblacks will technically play their second road game in Week 10 Monday afternoon against the Montreal Alouettes.

The Redblacks fell to the Argonauts in Toronto on Wednesday 35-16.

The positives and influxes of hope that were created by the Redblacks with a big win over the Elks in Week 9 evaporated just as quickly as they were created. Starting quarterback Caleb Evans struggled Wednesday night, he chucked two pick-sixes and three interceptions overall against Toronto. A glimmer of light hidden behind the turnovers would be Ottawa's ability to move the ball, Evans did compile 334 passing yards in the defeat and will no doubt learn from major mistakes. In addition, Ottawa's defense did their job in the game versus the Argos, holding the boatmen to just 253 yards of total offense.

As for the Alouettes, they already hold a 51-29 blowout victory over the Redblacks this season. Als quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. tossed four touchdowns on September 3rd in Ottawa and running back William Stanback galloped for 112 yards in that win. Montreal are also coming off a huge road overtime victory in Hamilton that handed the Ticats their first home defeat since 2018. Montreal possess the premier rushing attack in the Canadian Football League and it's not much of a competition, the Als have 169 more rushing yards than the second placed Riders, in one less game played. The Alouettes return home for the first time since a loss to the BC Lions, a game which the Als were held without a touchdown. With a win over the Redblacks, the Als would move back to .500 and potentially into second place in the East Divison.

The betting line in this contest hasn't moved at all since a late week posting, Montreal are more than a touchdown favorite at -8. The last four games between these two teams have gone over the total, that number sits at 48.

The Redblacks are 7-0 against the spread in Montreal and the -8 are the most points the Alouettes have laid going into this matchup since 2015.

Expect the Als to put up another big point total and Caleb Evans not to turnover the ball three times, leading to some Ottawa scores.

Take the over.
