The Betting Perspective - TOR @ OTT
Toronto (-10.5) @ Ottawa: TOTAL 45.5
An all-East affair kicks off Saturday's card in the Canadian Football League, as the Argos are in the Nation's capital to take on the Redblacks.
The Argos place in the East division will be decided over the next couple of weeks, barring a crazy Alouettes run in back-to-back games versus the Bombers. Toronto host Hamilton next week, so this matchup versus Ottawa could be a look ahead situation for the boatmen. McLeod Bethel-Thompson will be in charge of the Argos fate for the rest of 2021 after general manager Michael Pinball Clemons shipped out Nick Arbuckle to Edmonton. Bethel-Thompson only threw for 155 yards against the Lions last week, but the Argos grabbed the overtime victory thanks to BC kicker Jimmy Camacho missing three field goals in the contest. Toronto haven't been able to run the ball in recent games, the Argos haven't had a 100-yard rusher since Week 3 against the Bombers.
Caleb Evans continues his audition as the Redblacks starting quarterback for next season, but he is struggling, just two touchdown passes and nine interceptions since his impressive debut against the Elks. The problems for Paul LaPolice's team run deeper than just the quarterback position, their defense have given up the most rushing yards this year.
The Redblacks have lost five games in a row by an average of 15 points per game, the only two wins for Ottawa this season have come against Edmonton. In addition to the terrible record for the Redblacks, their against the spread numbers are awful as well, especially at home, they're 3-12 ATS in their last 15 games in front of their home fans.
Toronto have won four straight games ATS versus Ottawa and the Redblacks have lost six straight ATS against a team with a winning record.
Don't be scared by the double-digit spread.
Pick: Toronto -10.5
